Job Description

This position is responsible for production activities in the Cast House including casting, sawing, homogenization and associated processes to meet all customer shipping and quality requirements. Employee is responsible for equipment assets and human resources on shift. The financial impact of this position is significant as it relates directly to quality of finished goods and shipping performance.

DUTIES

 

  • Support, promote, and enforce all EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) guidelines and practices as established for the department. 
  • Safely cast and deliver a quality product that meets all applicable customer requirements while minimizing costs. 
  • Directly responsible for product flow from the cast house furnaces to the casting units and or finishing processes. 
  • Manage the operation of the vertical casting units, the in-line casting units, the homogenization furnaces, and/or the sawing/inspection operations including troubleshooting with mechanical and electrical maintenance staff. 
  • Maintain housekeeping in areas of responsibility as described in housekeeping plan and also EHS  audits. 
  • Ensure that all casting and sawing practices and procedures are adhered to and comply with quality system standards. 
  • Maintain relationship with Production Control personnel and Quantometer Operator on shift. 
  • Manage labor relations on shift in accordance with Alcoa policy including first step grievances and discipline. 
  • Develop new ideas and approaches for cast house cost reduction. Play an active role in the implementation of CH Cost Reduction Initiatives and ABS activities.

 

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A broad understanding of the department, the process, materials and people.
  • An Associate’s Degree. 
  • Two years of prior supervisory experience. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Casthouse operations. 
  • Demonstrated ability in providing leadership, achieving results and driving change.
  • Demonstrated PC skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
