Position and Responsibilities

 

Cameco is accepting applications from students enrolled in the area of environmental science and environmental engineering.

 

Students will be assigned to the corporate office in Saskatoon. The successful candidate will work an eight-month term from September 2017 to May 2018 and will assist with a variety of special projects and other day-to-day activities.

 

Working with the compliance and licensing group, you will be responsible for conducting research on various environmental topics such as aquatic toxicity and environmental regulations.

 

You will also assist in the collection, data entry and reporting of environmental samples from Cameco’s northern Saskatchewan sites as required.

 

Education and Qualifications

 

You will be entering your third or fourth year as a university student specializing in environmental sciences, environmental engineering, natural sciences or a related field.  Excellent communication and organization skills are required.

 

This position is located in Saskatoon with occasional trips to the northern Saskatchewan sites.

Position and Responsibilities

 

As a chief engineer, maintenance, you will provide oversight to the maintenance engineering group, supervising a diverse team of engineers and technologists. You will play a lead role in the execution of Cameco’s operational reliability programs. You will be a subject matter expert on maximizing equipment availability, reliability and performance through effective preventive maintenance practices.

 

You will be responsible for making recommendations for the capital budget and the non-routine maintenance budget. You will be accountable for ensuring the site’s critical engineering programs are executed: tank inspection, ventilation, structural integrity, pipeline integrity, pressure vessels, electrical infrastructure, etc.

 

Education and Qualifications

 

Requirements of the position:                                         

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive reliability engineering experience
  • Supervisory experience in heavy industry
  • Equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered
  • You must be eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills

Utilizing your ability to independently achieve results through solid organizational and analytical skills, you will develop, enhance and manage a database of worker and workplace radiation information, as well as assist in the administration of radiation data. You will also assist the divisions with licensing and regulatory issues, reviews of draft regulatory documents and internal audit support. This role requires regular travel to Ontario, Saskatchewan and US operations for short visits to assist operations in radiation protection initiatives.
